Love will keep us alive! - Valentine’s Day Special

“…Love, all alike, no season knows nor clime,
Nor hours, days, months, which are the rags of time….”

The Sun Rising.
By John Donne

Love is a miracle, love’s ecstasy, love’ the food that keeps us alive. Ironically, a single day has been dedicated to celebrate this most beautiful human emotion. Valentine’s Day is a traditional day when lovers express their passions to their beloveds. The legend of this date revolves around Saint Valentine who was martyred, back in the roman era. Factually the Christian priest he was persecuted and buried, by Emperor Claudius, for refusing to convert to roman paganism. Performing a miracle, he installed sight to the jailer’s daughter before he was executed. This story though has no reference to love or romance; there are more popular adaptations of the fable. The most popular, defines Valentine as priest who rebuffed Claudius’ law against marriage. He secretly performed weddings of the languished soldiers. Thus since then his martyrs day is celebrated as Valentine’s Day. The roman maidens believed that sleeping with bay leaves under the pillow on Valentine’s eve would get the vision of their future love in their dream.

Conventionally lovers gift flowers, cards and sweets as a gesture of love. The list goes beyond to perfumes, precious accessories and jewelry.A gift can be a true symbol of ones feelings.
