Citrine Care
Citrine is radiant yellow quartz. The dazzling color of the gem has made it popular with most style icons. The golden sheen of the stone emanates style when worn in jewelry. An affordable option for all jewelry lovers, it gives a good color variation. Measuring 7 in hardness the stone pretty well sustains the regular wear and tear. But Citrine too requires certain cautions to be followed to keep the jewelry dazzling new.
Caution:
Citrine should never be heated or exposed to extreme temperatures. Though it can be ultrasonic cleaned.
Never leave Citrine jewelry in the sun for long hours, as the heat may cause the permanent loss of color. Especially remove the jewelry when taking a sun bath.
Should never expose to X-ray or will become dark brown.
Avoid sudden temperature changes, it can crack the stone.
Citrine is hard enough, but not capable to withstand the harsh blows and rough use.
Abstain from the use of oils, bleach, hairsprays, perfumes and other chemicals on Citrine jewelry.
Cleaning:
Use a very mild detergent, dish washing soap or a popular jewelry cleaner to clean your Citrine jewelry. Soak the jewelry for 15-20 minutes in the soap and water mixture, and scrub off the dirt with a soft toothbrush. Rinse it under running water and dry with a soft cotton cloth.
Store:
Always store your jewelry separately in their respective boxes or wrap in a cloth to avoid rubbing and scratch.
